Dear Kathy and HavenHouse,
Thank you. In so many ways, THANK YOU.
From the moment we entered the front door and were enthusiastically greeted by Paula our stay was wonderful. Our children faced 3 days of appointments and tests at Children’s. All they ever wanted to do was go to the HavenHouse. What a haven it was! Your staff was so kind, the facilities a godsend, and the time with other families provided great perspective for my wife and me.
Questions, needs, or interaction with your staff were greeted with enthusiasm and care. Smiles, affirmation from the front desk to volunteers were warm. That intangible makes families like ours feel so welcomed. Our children face a special diet so the kitchen was such a blessing. My wife and I were able to work out and I got a bit of work done in the computer room. Additionally, one bed in our room was adorned with pink polka dotted sheets which my 5 year old daughter dove on when we entered.
It is often difficult for others to understand parenting children with health issues. Camaraderie, community or perhaps even an unspoken sense of understanding was present with other parents during our stay. My wife was able to share with some other parents about her struggles which provided some healing for her. We also left the Haven House with a truer perspective on how fortunate we are. Our children have difficulties, but we did not have to look far to see families facing issues far greater than ours. We see God being gracious to them and to us.
Thank you HavenHouse for being a haven to my family and me. We are most grateful.
