SEEQ: Safe Environment Eligibility Qualification Guidelines
Purpose
The Safe Environment Eligibility Qualification (SEEQ) Guidelines are established to ensure a secure, respectful, and supportive environment for all individuals lodging at HavenHouse St. Louis. This policy outlines the procedures for evaluating guest eligibility through a review of publicly available criminal history records.
Policy Statement
All individuals aged 18 and older seeking to lodge or visit at HavenHouse St. Louis are required to undergo a criminal background history check. This screening is conducted using public records to assess eligibility for stay and to uphold the safety and well-being of all guests, staff, and visitors.
Scope
This policy applies to all adult guests, including patients, caregivers, and family members, who request accommodations at HavenHouse St. Louis and any applicable guests.
Screening Process
Background checks are conducted in real time at the time of reservation using publicly accessible criminal history databases or through CheckrTrust*, the authorized third-party service that aggregates public records. HavenHouse St. Louis reserves the right to requalify any guest prior to returning visits.
To ensure the most accurate and favorable results, guests are required to provide their full legal name (First Name, Last Name, Middle Initial) and Date of Birth. Incomplete or partial information may lead to inaccurate or unfavorable results. It is in the guest’s best interest to provide complete and accurate identifying information.*IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM CHECKR TRUST: THIS IS NOT A CONSUMER REPORT and does not constitute a “consumer report” under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). This report may not be used to determine eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, or any other purpose regulated under the FCRA. This report contains public record data and publicly available information. Data is collected from state DMVs, the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS), salvage auctions, junk yards, insurance companies, and other sources. While we strive for accuracy in our reports, we cannot guarantee or verify all the information provided.
Review Criteria
The presence of certain offenses, particularly those involving sexual crimes, violence, theft, or any behavior that may pose a risk to others—may result in denial of lodging. Each determination is made using a consistent set of criteria and results in either approval or denial.
Notification of Determination
The primary reservation contact or primary guest will be notified if any member of their party is denied lodging based on the results of the background check. As these records are matters of public record, HavenHouse St. Louis and its staff will not discuss or disclose specific findings from the report.
Confidentiality and Non-Discrimination
We are committed to providing fair and equal access to lodging. Criminal background checks, when conducted, are applied consistently and in compliance with applicable laws. We do not deny lodging based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or any other protected status. Background check results are evaluated based on legitimate safety and business considerations, not on arbitrary or discriminatory grounds. All information obtained through the screening process will be treated with strict confidentiality.
Appeals and Exceptions
Guests cannot appeal a denial, and the criteria do not allow for exceptions. If a guest disagrees with the decision, they may choose to run a personal criminal and background check through Checkr and handle discrepancies with reporting agencies. Personal background checks can be run at: https://checkr.com/personal-background-checks
Effective Date
This policy is effective as of August 1st 2025 and will be reviewed annually for updates or revisions.
